Childrens Ministries

Quick Links

Dearborn Baptist Church values children! We also recognize the mutual dependence that exists between the family and the church. We know that Dearborn Baptist needs spiritually healthy families to be a strong church and the families need a solid church to support and complement them. Thus, the church seeks to teach children God's Word in an appropriate manner with the desire of bringing them to the knowledge and understanding of the saving gospel and to teach them to be obedient disciples of Christ. This process is described beautifully in Psalm 78. "(That) which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. We will not hide … from (our) children, showing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. For he established a testimony … and appointed a law … which he commanded our fathers, that they should make … known to their children: That the generation to come might know … even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments…." We use the following avenues for teaching children God's Word:

Children Ministries

Nursery

DBC desires to "catch them in the cradle" and thus provides a safe nursery for all Sunday Services (and most special events). Nursery volunteers must go through the church's child- care training and certifications. The nursery enables parents of babies to enjoy the services better.

Sunday School

Dearborn Baptist Church offers a graded Sunday School. Every Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. classes meet and the children from toddlers to teens are taught age-appropriate Bible lessons. Sunday School teachers and their assistants must go through the church's child-care training and certification. DBC utilizes the curricula published by Regular Baptist Press for lesson material. Every August DBC hosts a Sunday School Picnic and Promotion Event to recognize each class, and to award attendance and merit.

Children's Church

Every Sunday morning the Minister of Music "dismisses" the children (after congregational singing) to "Children's Church" where volunteers (who have been trained and certified for child-care) teach kids ages 4-8 an age-appropriate Bible lesson. Children's Church is an option for parents, but by no means a requirement.

Children's Choir

The children of Dearborn Baptist Church regularly sing for the congregation (to the delight of all). A weekly 40 minute rehearsal (Sunday's 5:00 p.m. September – May) is held. The Children's Choir also performs a bi-annual Christmas Musical.

Rangers for Christ

Rangers

Rangers for Christ is our Christian scouting ministry for children in 2nd – 6th grade. This ministry meets each Wednesday and takes advantage of the beautiful 35 acre campus (28 wooded) at Dearborn Baptist Church. Ranger meetings consist of a time of prayer and Bible devotion, working on merit badge requirements, fun, and fellowship. Children earn rank and merit badges as they work through the Ranger Handbook. The merit badges teach practical skills (such as campfire safety, bicycle safety, forestry, etc.) as well as develop Christian character and Bible study habits through merit badges like the daily devotions, missionary, Christian character, 4 gospels etc.. Rangers For Christ also hosts several special events during the course of the year (camp outs, back- pack hikes, bike hikes, pine wood derby race, and ministry opportunities like Christmas caroling in the local nursing homes). All Ranger leaders have gone through the child certification process. A Ranger Handbook is available to interested parents who wish to learn more about the minstry.

Mini-Rangers

is a scaled down version of Rangers for pre- schoolers. The weekly (Wednesday) meeting includes a Bible lesson and a craft time. The adult leaders of the "Minis" have gone through the child-care certification process.

Summer Camp

A special week every summer when children (and their adult counselors) go to Church Camp for teaching, preaching, and lots of fun.
