Here are a few events coming up in the life of our church:.
April 4th: Easter Sunday
8:15 - Early Preaching Service, 9:15 - Pastor Partners meet, 9:30 - Continental Breakfast Fellowship, 10:30 Baptism & worship Service, NO PM Services.
April 6th: Fellowship Tract League
Make plans to attend DBC's trip to the Tract League. We will be leaving the church at 8:30am and returning by 2:30pm. A sign-up sheet is in the fellowship hall. ALL AGES WELCOME!
April 8th: Spring Outreach
Begins Thurs., April 8th at 6:30pm.
April 9th & 10th: Love & Respect

April 11th: Starting Point Class
For all new believers, new members of DBC and anyone considering being a member. Classes start at 9:30am and will last 6-8 weeks. Contact Larry Schmaltz or Pastor Sparks with questions.

Southland Missionary Baptist Church is hosting their sixth annual Area Wide Senior Fellowship Sat.,April 24th from 4-6:30pm. Sign-up sheet & more info. in the fellowship hall.

Meet the Staff of Dearborn Baptist Church
Darrell W. Sparks, Senior Pastor
A native of the Tri-State area, Darrell W. Sparks was born in Northern Kentucky in 1956 and grew up in Cincinnati. He was saved at the age of 9 and called to preach when he was 14.
He earned a B.A. in Biblical Studies from Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky in 1978, as well as a Master's Degree in Counseling from Eastern Kentucky University in 1985. In 1978, he married the former Miss Carla Sanderson of Cincinnati.
From 1978 to 1981, Darrell and Carla served in the Caprock Baptist Church in Amarillo, Texas. They moved to Mt. Vernon, Kentucky in 1981 where Darrell served as the pastor of Central Baptist Church until 1986. Since 1986, the Sparks' have lived in Dearborn County, ministering at Dearborn Baptist Church since its inception.
Darell and Carla have three daughters, Sarah born in 1980, Larah born in 1982, and Leah born in 1985. The emphasis of Pastor Sparks' ministry is verse-by-verse expository preaching.
Gordon Shinkle, Associate Pastor
A native of the Tri-State area also, Gordon Shinkle was born in Hamilton, Ohio in 1955 and grew up on a farm in Dearborn County, Indiana. His family roots lie in Kentucky. Gordon was saved at the age of 19 throuth the testimony and witness of the former Miss Ruth Mockbee of Milan, who later became Mrs. Ruth Shinkle in 1975.
He surrendered to preach in 1975 and began to do Biblical studies through the Bethel Baptist Bible Institute. He was licensed to preach by Calvary Baptist Church in Dillsboro where he worked as a Sunday school teacher and youth director. He was ordained in 1980 and the same year became the pastor of Oakdale Baptist Church in Oakdale, Illinois.
In 1983 Gordon took the pastorate of Greenwood Baptist Church in Winchester, Virginia where he ministered for 25 years. After the extension of a call from Dearborn Baptist Church, Gordon joined the DBC staff as the new Associate Pastor in August of 2007.
Gordon and Ruth have two sons , James born in Illinois in 1983 and David born in Virginia in 1986. The emphasis of Gordon's ministry is to see God glorified through the local church via the preaching of His Word and through Godly counseling.
Christopher Young, Music Minister & Youth Pastor
A native of South Carolina, Chris was born in Charleston and grew up in Summerville, SC for 22 years. He was saved at the age of 8 and answered the call to go into the music ministry at age 19. Within recent months, Chris has answered a call to preach after being actively involved as a youth minister at DBC for the last year at the age of 26.
He earned a B.A. in Music Performance from Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, FL in 2003. On June 6, 2003 he married the former Miss Sarah Sparks of Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
Since June of 2003, Chris and Sarah have served faithfully at Dearborn Baptist Church. Chris has served as a full-time music minister, working with adult choir, children's choir, small ensembles, songleading, special music, and our church orchestra. He also serves as the youth pastor for our WORD youth group. Sarah has served as a Pre-K Sunday School teacher, choir member, and assists Chris in his youth ministry on Wednesday nights. As of May 21st, 2008 Chris has celebrated his 5th year anniversary as a staff member of Dearborn Baptist Church.
The emphasis of Chris' music ministry is that others will come to know Christ as their personal Savior through the God-honoring music sung and performed at Dearborn Baptist Church. "We seek to sing songs that share the gospel as well as songs that are rich in theology. I pray that God will receive all the honor and glory from the songs that are sung and performed at DBC.
The emphasis of Chris' youth ministry is that teen will be equipped, trained, and discipled in the word of God and be able to share their faith boldly with others. "I pray our teens will be on fire for Christ, not letting up, giving their all for the glory of God in every area of their life."
